When an actor or actress signs up to play a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, more often that not they have to sign a multi-movie deal and we are now seeing some of these contracts running down. Actor Chris Hemsworth plays the role of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he has spoken about his future playing the character.
Chris Hemsworth plays Thor

Chris Hemsworth first appeared as Thor in the 2011 movie Thor, before then reprising the role for the 2012 film The Avengers, and again playing the character in Thor: The Dark World in 2013. Chris has now revealed how many more movies he has left on his Marvel contract, which seems to suggest that he will quit playing Thor in 2019.

Hemsworth explained, "I'm three films away from [the end of my contract]; I've got Avengers 3 and 4 and I've got Thor 3." Thor: Ragnarok will hit the big screen in 2017, while Avengers: Infinity War - Part I will open in 2018 and Avengers: Infinity War - Part II opening in 2019. If those are all of the Marvel movies that Chris Hemsworth has left as Thor, then he is likely to say farewell to the character in 2019.

It will be interesting to see whether Chris Hemsworth will be offered a contract extension by Marvel to continue playing Thor in future movies or if the actor would even want to continue playing the character. If not, then it would be interesting to see if they recast Thor, if they give us the much talked about female Thor, or if they just do away with Thor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe all together.
