Chris Tucker has just paid off $1 million out of hit total $12 million tax debt. It was actually reported several months ago that Tucker was having a lot of tax issues, mainly with his ability to pay off his tax debt. The IRS was able to deduce that Chris owed them a total of $12 million in unpaid taxes over the years.
Tucker also recently sold his house in Tarzania, California for almost $2.1 million dollars, which probably helped him with those tax payments. Although Tucker probably had plenty of money, his acting income has significantly reduced over the years.
His last Rush Hour film was in 2007 [Rush Hour 3] and his role in Silver Linings Playbook was barely a supporting role, and he likely wasn't paid very much for it considering that it was an 'independent' film.
However, there are rumors that Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are about to sign on for Rush Hour 4, which might help Chris chip away at the rest of that $12 million tax debt. It's been almost 6 years since the last Rush Hour film, but that doesn't necessarily mean that audiences don't want to see another one.
