Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen has given his club Tottenham Hotspur an early Christmas present - by returning to first team training following the ankle injury that has kept him on the sidelines.

Eriksen sustained the ankle injury while on international duty with Denmark, in their match against Norway. Originally it looked like Eriksen would be out for at least three months, leaving him unable to play until well into February - which would have been a blow to Spurs. However after a scan it was revealed that instead of rupturing the ankle ligaments like was first thought - it was just a severe sprain, thus reducing the amount of time that Eriksen would be out for.
However it still seemed like he would be unable to begin training until well into the new year. But his injury healed quicker than expected and he has now started first team training again, less than a month after the injury.

It gets better for Tottenham too, as not only has he started training again the first team, but manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that he might even make a short appearance in their next Europa League game with Anzhi Makhachkala - he said "Christian Eriksen is also selected, so there is the possibility that he could play some minutes as well". It looks like it will still be a few weeks before Christian Eriksen is going to be playing regularly and full games for Spurs but this has to be welcome news to a club that had a bit of midfield crisis due to injuries.
Unfortunately for Andre Villas-Boas, he has since been sacked as Spurs manager. Who would you like to see replace him?
