The music industry is a very interesting thing and it always seems to go through different stages and trends for a certain period of time. There was once a time when people liked nothing more than making happy, jolly music that everyone could dance around to but, these days it feels like everyone is making sad and depressing music that you pretty much cannot dance to at all.

Christina Perri in her music video
The beautiful and talented musician Christina Perri has been in the music industry for a number of years now and, while she has given us some fantastic songs along the way, it is fair to say that most of them have been rather sad songs. Well, Christina has now revealed the secret to writing good music, admitting that it all comes with heartbreak.
Perri explained, "100 percent, (I write better when I’m) heartbroken. I’ve been proving that right, year after year... When you’re in love and happy, it’s very difficult to be creative because, you know, happy songs are a little bit tougher to write. When I’m heartbroken, it blows out because it’s feeling and when you’re a writer and you’re feeling, it helps to write. That’s why I think it’s easier to write in pain."

Christina Perri doing her music thing
While Christina Perri has become renowned for writing ad songs, such as Jar of Hearts and A Thousand Years, which both appeared on her debut album Lovestrong, she has also shown her more upbeat side too. On her second album Head or Heart, Christina had the song Be My Forever, which was a duet with the British star Ed Sheeran. Keep up the good work, girl!
