When it was confirmed that a new Jurassic Park movie was being made, we were interested to see what it would have to offer and whether it would be a success or not. Most of us felt that Jurassic World would be a success but none of us could have predict just how huge the movie was going to become, grossing $1,36bn worldwide, making it the third highest grossing film of all-time.
Chris Pratt stars in Jurassic World
There is no doubt at all then, that we are going to get a Jurassic World sequel and it is pretty much a given that director Colin Trevorrow will return to the directors chair for the new film. Colin has been speaking about the Jurassic World sequel, teasing fans about what they can expect to see from the next instalment.
Trevorrow was talking to the guys over at Wired, when he explained to them, "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. Dr Wu says in the film, when he's warning Dr Mesrani, 'We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur.'"
The sequel has interesting plans
He added, "I think that's an interesting idea that even if we don't explore fully in this film, there is room for this universe to expand. When you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponise it and later on we found it could be used for energy. I shouldn't use the word universe, because people will think we're making a 'Jurassic World' universe. We're not."
While it is expected that Colin Trevorrow will return to direct the Jurassic World sequel, it is also expected that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return to star in the movie. The Jurassic World sequel is aiming for a 2018 release date.
