There has been so much talk about the lack of strong female characters in superhero movies in recent years, with a lot of people suggesting that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could definitely benefit from adding some more female superheroes into the fold. Well it seems that Marvel have definitely listened, as they have been adding more and more female characters to the MCU and look like to keep adding more.

We already know that we are going to get to see Brie Larson playing the role of Captain Marvel in the near future, while there has also been suggestions that we are going to get to see Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts taking on the mantle of Rescue, as well as the more obscure rumours that we could even get to see Natalie Portman as Jane Foster becoming the female Thor, the Goddess of Thunder.
We are all pretty much expecting that Chris Evans will step down as Captain America after Avengers 4, which has led to many people calling for a female Captain America to take over, with fans calling for Alison Brie to take on the role for many years now. Well, rather than Alison being the female Captain America, it has now been claimed that we could actually see her joining the cast as Shannon Carter aka American Dream.

Shannon Carter is the cousin of Sharon Carter, who is played by Emily VanCamp in the Marvel movies, with Shannon going on to create her own costume and undertake some intense training in order to join the team as American Dream. As well as that, in the comic books, we also get to see her taking on the mantle of Captain America for a short time, so this could work out well for everyone.
With that said though, Marvel already seem to have their plans in place for the next few years now, so if we are going to get to see Alison Brie as Shannon Carter aka American Dream, then we might have to wait for quite some time yet.
