There are so many books being adapted for the big screen at the moment and, when there is more than one book in the series, it is pretty much safe to assume that we are going to get more than one movie, especially if the first film does so well. Last year, the big screen adaptation of The Maze Runner managed to gross $341m, which meant that the sequel would definitely be coming our way.
Dylan O'Brien returns as Thomas
Later this year, that sequel will hit the big screen, as we see the return of our favourite characters in the movie Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Dylan O'Brien returns in the role of Thomas and he can be seen leading the way in the new Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials trailer, which is out now.
While those of you who have read the books will be familiar with what happens in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, there are still those who are not so sure. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials has been officially described as "After having escaped the Maze, the Gladers now face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles."
The sequel is out this year
As well as starring Dylan O'Brien, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials will also feature Ki Hong Lee, Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Katherine McNamara, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Aidan Gillen, among others. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is directed by Wes Ball, based on the screenplay that T.S. Nowlin adapted from the James Dashner novel.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is scheduled to hit the big screen on September 18 in both the US and the UK. For now though, why not take a few moments to check out the new Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials trailer, below.
