British actress Emma Watson rose to fame in the role of Hermione Granger in the hugely successful Harry Potter franchise. Emma is now one of the biggest stars on the planet and she has opened up about her life before she became famous, talking a little about her family life.

Watson revealed, "I grew up in the countryside in England and my dad wouldn't even let my brother and I watch TV. My parents are very academically focused and any kind of vanity on my part was not tolerated."
She added, "I had to be quite persistent about what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be. You know this industry expects you to do a certain thing and go a certain way and I had to speak loudly about what I didn't want to do."

Emma Watson recently admitted that she almost turned her back on acting, following the end of the Harry Potter movies, as she began to believe what the doubters were saying. Fortunately, Emma received The Perks of Being a Wallflower script and everything changed.
