English actor Eric Idle became famous for his place as one of the monty python flying circus members in the television series Monty Python’s Flying Circus (1969-1974), playing various roles with the rest of his team, highlighted in the film Euroshow 71 (1971). Many fans in America remember him in Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975). These shows were phenomenal in their time, and Eric has continued with his dry and delightful comedic entertainment through the years.
He played the part of Commander Clement is the action and adventure comedy Yellowbeard (1983), alongside stars Cheech Marin and Peter Boyle. You may also remember him as the narrator of The Pied Piper and Robert Browning in The Fairie Tale Theatre (1982-1985). The uniqueness of Eric's voice has made him a great in the arena of story narration.
Idle also supplies the voice in popular video games such as Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (1996), Discworld II: Mortality Bytes! (1996), and Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life (1997). Eric has been active in entertainment, sometimes behind the scenes, and sometimes right out in the open.
Eric was the narrator of the story in the film Ella Enchanted (2004) starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Dancy and Carey Elwes. His most recent work has been providing the voices for Merlin in Shrek the Third (2007),and of Desmond Declan in The Simpson’s (2003-2012).
