While there are some people who feel that comic book movies are beginning to get a bit too much and are beginning to lose interest in the genre, there are still millions of comic book movie fans all over the world who are delighted at the fact that we are getting more and more comic book movies released every year, some which they are very excited about and others less so.
The DC Extended Universe has come in for a lot of criticism in recent years and while they are still trying to get their act together and get things in order, they are still teasing the possibility of releasing projects which the fans are not all that interested in. With that said, there is one DC character who the fans are looking forward to seeing on the big screen and that is Batgirl.
Since it was announced that there was going to be a Batgirl movie, which would be written and directed by Joss Whedon, there have been a huge amount of Hollywood names being linked to the possibility of playing the role. Joss has now left the project and Christina Hodson has come on board to pen the screenplay for the Batgirl movie, which means that the rumours are still coming thick and fast about the potential casting.
One of the names which we have become most excited about, is the possibility of getting to see Priyanka Chopra in the role of Batgirl in the DCEU, with plenty of fans giving her their backing. It would definitely be a brave casting choice, should Priyanka land the role, with the hardcore comic book fans no doubt being upset by it, but it would also be one which we could definitely get behind.
With that said, there is still no news about when we are finally going to get to see Batgirl appearing on the big screen, so it could well still be quite some time before we get to hear any official casting news.
