There has been a lot of talk about the future of the Fantastic Four movie franchise, after the latest reboot of the franchise was considered a huge flop, leading to many to suggest that we would not see 20th Century Fox taking the risk on the comic book heroes again any time soon. However, there have also been plenty of comic book fans who have been making the same suggestion about the possible future of the Fantastic Four on the big screen.

As many of us have been saying for many years now, pretty much everyone who wants to see the Fantastic Four movies succeed have been calling for Fox to let the characters join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much like what Sony have done with Spider-Man, after failing to give fans the Spider-Man movie they want. Now, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has weighed in on what he would like to see happening with the Fantastic Four.
He stated, I mean, there’s a lot of discussion about Moon Knight maybe coming into the MCU. I think that’s a good idea. I dunno…Actually, scratch that answer. Here’s my answer. My answer is this: I still have hope that Fantastic Four can be properly brought into the MCU because a lot of Doctor Strange – that’s the comment I read the most during that. I love those characters and I think that they still deserve another shot at finding a true home in the MCU. I still have hope for that. That’s my honest answer."

Unfortunately it does seem highly unlikely that we are going to ever see 20th Century Fox allow Marvel to take control of the Fantastic Four on the big screen, due to the huge rivalry that has developed between the two of them. With that said, we never thought we would ever see Sony allowing Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so maybe there is still hope for Fantastic Four.
