British actress Maisie Williams has become a household name around the world, thanks to her very impressive performances in the role of Arya Stark in the hit HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. Maisie has since gone on to land a number of new interesting and exciting projects, although she has admitted that she seems to miss out on a number of roles because of the way she looks.
Williams was chatting to the Irish Times newspaper, when she said to them, "It's only now I'm starting to realise the characters that are available to me because of the way I look and the characters that aren't available to me. It's a very shallow industry. I don't look like someone who is cast in roles that are, well, sexualised. Don't get me wrong. I'm completely in awe of Hollywood's leading ladies. I love looking at those totally jaw-droppingly beautiful women. But I think it's sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful onscreen."
As well as talking about how she seems to miss out on a number of the better roles which she would like to be able to play on the big screen, Maisie Williams did go on to admit that she was looking forward to seeing what new roles would come her way following the end of the hit series Game of Thrones. Maisie and co. are currently in the process of shooting the final season of Game of Thrones and she is looking forward to getting to work on new projects, such as her recent voice work on the animated movie Early Man.
Williams added, "I'm currently filming for the final season, which is all a bit weird. It's been my entire career. It's exciting now that I can do more things like this ['Early Man'] and really shape my career to things that I want to do, but it's a little bit nerve-wracking because this has been my safety blanket and safety net."
The final season of Game of Thrones will air on HBO in 2019. Meanwhile, fans of Maisie Williams will get to see just how good her voice work is, when the new animated movie Early Man hits the big screen on January 26 in the UK and February 16 in the US.
