When it comes to actor Hugh Jackman playing the role of Wolverine in the X-Men movies, it seems that there is still quite a split between the fans, with some still insisting that he was not the right choice to play the character, while others have loved the job he has done in the role. Either way, you cannot question his dedication to the character over the past 15 years, with the actor putting his heart and soul into the role along the way.
After a number of rumours about the future of Hugh Jack as Wolverine over the years, it has now been officially confirmed that the actor will be stepping down from the role, following Wolverine 3 in 2017. Hugh has been playing Wolverine since 2000 and he clearly feels that the time is right to move on and let another actor have a crack at the fans favourite character.
During a recent interview, Jackman explained, "It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out."
We will next get to see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse, which opens on May 19, 2016 in the UK and May 27, 2016 in the US, before Wolverine 3 hits the big screen on March 2, 2017 in the UK and March 3, 2017 in the US. It will then be time to say goodbye to Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
