Ian McKellen has fans throughout the Internet talking about the 'kiss' between him and his good friend Patrick Stewart who showed up at the movie premier of his new film Mr. Holmes in which he plays the lead role as Sherlock Holmes. 
The locking of lips between the two acting legends has brought attention to both his film and the spectacular friendship that exists between the two actors and shows a some of the marketing brilliance of Sir Ian McKellen.
His kiss with his friend at the movie premier has fans throughout social media taking an interest in the film and also looking at their relationship and wondering if there is something more to it. The two friends have explored New York City together, they have been pictured holding hands at Coney Island and they have appeared on both Broadway and the big screen together in films such as the X-Men franchise in which Sir Ian McKellen played Magneto and Patrick Stewart the role of Professor X (Entertainment Weekly - June 11).
As such, it is not about whether they are good friends but for some fans the interesting thing is their 'kiss' suggests something that they may be just more than good friends.
A 'quick' kiss between friends is one thing but when two people engage in a passionate lip lock in front of one's partner that generally suggests a completely different relationship which is something that some social media entertainment fans believe Sir Ian McKellen is completely aware of and thus engaged in this sort of kiss to generate publicity for his film which he definitely accomplished.

No one knows if there was any 'deep meaning' to his lip-lock of good friend Patrick Stewart at his Mr. Holmes premiere but one thing that is certain is that he now has entertainment fans throughout social media talking about Ian McKellen and that was likely the goal he set out to achieve all along.
