Fans of the Harry Potter franchise have been eager to get more from the land of wizards and witches, ever since the final Harry Potter movie brought the franchise to an end. Now, it has been confirmed that Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling are teaming up to bring us the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The movie will be based on the book
As the hardcore Harry Potter fans will be well aware, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a textbook used at Hogwarts, written by the wizard Newt Scamander. It is exactly this that the movie will be based on, following the adventures of Newt, many years before Harry Potter was born.
Rowling explained, "Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world."

J.K. Rowling is writing her first screenplay
She added, "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway."
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be the first screenplay that J.K. Rowling has written. There is no release date attached to the project yet but we will keep ou posted on the progress of this one.
