There has been a lot of talk about the new movie Split, with a lot of people suggesting that it should be pulled from the theatres before it is even released, as it gives a really negative approach towards people who suffer from a similar illness to the lead character. However, that was never the intention of director M. Night Shyamalan, who insists that he was actually hoping to bring more awareness toward the problem.
In Split, talented actor James McAvoy stars in the lead role of a character who has multiple personalities, who kidnaps some people and holds them hostage. James has now been talking about the new project but, rather than focusing on the controversial points in the film, the actor instead told an interesting story about how he actually broke his hand while shooting a scene for the movie.
McAvoy explained, "I broke my hand picking this movie. I was meant to punch a door. It was a metal door but it had a little square bit in it that was soft and I, of course, missed the soft bit and hit the hard bit. Night says he watched the take where I broke it and you can see my face go white and I'm like, 'Style it out, man, style it out' and I carried on with the take. There's a shot in the movie where I put my glasses on and my hand looks like a boxing glove."
As well as starring James McAvoy, the new movie Split will also include other exciting Hollywood names, such as Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, Kim Director, and Betty Buckley, to name just a few. As well as directing the movie, M. Night Shyamalan also penned the screenplay for the film, which is set to hit the big screen on January 20, 2017 in both the US and the UK.
