By now, we all know that former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is going to play the role of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe, first appearing in the upcoming movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before then going on to get his own Aquaman solo movie. Aquaman has not exactly been the most successful character in the past, so how will Jason compare to those before him?

Well, way back in 2005, actor Alan Ritchson popped up in an episode of the hit The CW television series Smallville, where he played the role of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, a role which he reprised for a further three episodes in the years to come. In fairness to Alan, he did a very good job in the role and did not disappoint the fans of the show with his performances. It was just a shame we did not get more from him.
Back in 2006, actor Justin Hartley made his debut in Smallville as Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow but, before he was cast in the role, Justin was actually cast as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in The CW's failed Aquaman television series. The pilot flopped and the show was scrapped, which actually worked out for the best for Justin Hartley, although fans of Aquaman were not happy with the awful pilot.

So, it is not like Jason Momoa has the biggest of shoes to fill, taking on the big screen version of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, although he is still going to have to do a great job, as the comic book fans can be brutal. Jason certainly looks impressive from the pictures we have seen and we cannot wait to see what he brings to the role. Watch this space!
