Jessica Raine has slowly been gaining attention over the last two years, but it was really her performance in the TV miniseries 'Call The Midwife' that started getting her award season talk.
Now that the television awards season is almost upon us, there is talk of Critics Choice and Emmy nominations. Although she's listed as a long shot, Raine was listed as a possible contender for Best Actress in a TV Movie/Miniseries by Gold Derby, one of the biggest and most accurate awards sites on the net.
Of course, she'll have some very tough competition to make it into that slot. In this category, Julianne Moore won last year, and this year the sure-fire nominees include Jessica Lange [American Horror Story], Laura Linney [The Big C], and Helen Mirren [Phil Spector].
Other possible contenders to fill the remaining slots include Hayley Atwell, Alexis Bledel, Romola Garai, Rebecca Hall, Jessica Raine, and Sienna Miller. Many reports are putting both Raine and Miller at the top of their list, but Garai, Hall, Atwell, and Bledel also have a good chance. Either way, it's a good chance for Raine to get more exposure, and there's always next year.
