When Steven Spielberg first confirmed that Jurassic Park 4 was finally being developed, the news was largely met with excitement. After all, the Jurassic Park franchise remains one of the most financially lucrative in the last few decades, and it's also beloved from an audience standpoint. The official release date was actually confirmed as next June, but due to delays, the film's release date was reportedly pushed back to 2015.

Jurassic Park 4 will release in 2015
According to a report from Variety, the reason for the film being pushed back was because the schedule was 'too tight' and there was still work being done on the script. The report also states that Spielberg is currently working on the script with writers before he goes into production on his next movie, 'American Sniper'.
This makes 2015 one of the most jam-packed years for huge tentpole years, with many franchise movies on the roster. In addition to The Avengers 2, the next Avatar movie, Star Wars: Episode VII, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, we will also see Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and a possible Justice League movie from DC. This is not counting the numerous tentpoles that have yet to be announced.

Overall, it's a smart decision on the studio's end not to rush production on Jurassic Park 4, especially because the last movie wasn't that well received by the audiences. However, with enough time and Spielberg's involvement, we should hopefully see a return to form for the franchise come 2015.
