Justin Bieber beat out Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars for the first ever fan-voted Milestone award at the Billboard Music Awards, but there are conflicting reports to the crowd's reaction to his win and speech.

According to several reports, Justin went up on stage after winning the Milestone award, and said, "I'm 19 years old. I think I'm doing a pretty good job. Basically from my heart I really just want to say it really should be about music. It should be about the craft that I'm making. This is not a gimmick and I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously."
According to these reports, as Bieber went on to thank his manager, friends, and family [no mention of Selena Gomez], he was apparently booed by many in the crowd. However, Bieber didn't let that affect him and after finishing his speech, got off the stage and went back to his seat without saying anything.

Despite Selena Gomez not showing much public appreciation for her man in public, both Justin and Selena were kissing backstage after his win. A backstage video managed to capture the kiss, even though it only lasted for a few seconds.
