The original choreography from the hit 1987 movie Dirty Dancing, Kenny Ortega, has revealed how he almost turned down the chance to direct the remake of the movie. Ortega admitted that he had a lot of feelings to fight before taking on the challenge of helming the project.

Kenny explained, "Saying yes to this project was a really tough decision for me and one that I wrestled with for a long time. I had to be won over too! We have a big challenge and a long road ahead of us. All I can say is I hope we can bring something unique and original to help change the naysayers' minds about the film."
Kenny Ortega was originally lined up to direct the remake of Footloose but pulled out after experiencing differences regarding the tone of the movie. It has not yet been decided who will be playing the lead roles, which were made famous by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey but Ortega has admitted that he could see Ryan Gosling as the ideal Swayze replacement.
