Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio has become one of the biggest and best stars in Hollywood and it is not surprising, considering how much talent and potential he showed from such a young age. While the hit movie Romeo and Juliet did come in for a fair amount of criticism, Leo still gave a strong performance in the film and he still stands by what they did with the movie.

It has now been 20 years since the release of that Baz Luhrmann directed version of Romeo and Juliet, and Leonardo DiCaprio has been reminiscing about the film. Leo says that, while the movie does still have its critics, he feels that William Shakespeare would actually have approved of the film.

DiCaprio was chatting to Britain's Heat magazine, when he said, "Some people criticised the movie. You know like, ‘You can’t do that to Shakespeare'. But Shakespeare was a genius. I’m sure if he was alive, he would have been totally behind what Baz was trying to do."

Leonardo DiCaprio was not the only actor from the movie to talk about Romeo and Juliet, with fellow star Harold Perrineau, who took on the role of Mercutio, also reminiscing about the project. Harold says that one of the things he loved the most, was the fact that Baz Luhrmann did allow a certain level of flexibility.

Perrineau explained, "Baz wanted to make sure we found very American-sounding voices for the characters. So, even if we were saying these very Old English sort of words, you’d still understand the pattern. Once, I was trying to find this sort of rap rhythm, and I remember doing this Biggie Smalls thing, and I was like, ‘Where da caaash at?’ Baz left it in the film, which I thought was really funny."

Well, twenty years on and we have to admit that we still love Romeo and Juliet.
