Despite the lukewarm reaction from fans and critics to 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief', Fox decided to go ahead and make the sequel to the film, called 'Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters.' The film will be based on the bestselling book of the same name, which comes directly after the events of the first film take place. The filmmakers and cast members have said that the movie will remain a little more true to the book this time around, even though they will be condensing large points from different books into this one movie.

For one thing, Annabeth Chase [played by Alexandra Daddario] finally has blonde hair, a fact that was considered very important to die-hard fans of the book. Similar details have been changed and tweaked accordingly, and the film has already completed production and is currently in post-production.
USA Today has released snippets of a new interview with Logan Lerman, while also releasing various images and stills from 'Sea of Monsters'. This marks our first look at the film, which seems like it's maintained the impressive production values of the first film. Lerman says of his return for the sequel, "It's fun to go back to your old shoes once again and play around. And it's always fun to have a sword in your hand, especially when you're doing scenes which involve fighting monsters. I'm still a kid. I love doing that stuff.I'm a little more comfortable with the sword. We need it since there are bigger monsters. If you're going to make a sequel you gotta scale it up a little bit."
