There have already been a number of directors linked to the Star Wars Episode 7 movie and, while we have not heard much from any of the mentioned directors, there does already appear to be a favourite for the job. Many people are tipping Matthew Vaughn to helm the project but one man who definitely will not be is Zack Snyder.

Star Wars Episode 1 scene
Zack has admitted that he is a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise and, although his Superman reboot Man of Steel is yet to be released, it is receiving early praise from those in the know. Zack is without doubt a talented director but he fears that whoever takes on Star Wars Episode 7 could be making a career threatening decision.
Snyder told the L.A. Times, “I don’t think I’d be interested in directing it. I’m a huge ‘Star Wars’ fanatic. I just think doing episodes seven, eight and nine is just a slippery slope. It’s a whole other mythological experiment I’m excited to see, but it’s a lot of effort.”

Zack Snyder with Henry Cavill on Man of Steel set
While Zack Snyder has ruled himself out of directing Star Wars Episode 7, there are still plenty of other names being linked to the project. As well as Matthew Vaughn, there has also been mention of Brad Bird, J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg helming the project.
Star Wars Episode 7 is set to be released in 2015, while Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel is due to be released on June 14, 2013.
