Considering the amount of video game fans who hate the Resident Evil movies, it is quite surprising to see just how successful the movie franchise has been, with every single one of them going on to make an impressive amount of money at the box office. The Resident Evil films can definitely be considered a success and we are getting one more instalment of the franchise.

Milla Jovovich stars as Alice
Actress Milla Jovovich has played the role of Alice across all five of the Resident Evil movies so far, returning to reprise the role for the sixth and final instalment of the hit franchise. It was way back in 2002 that we first saw Milla playing Alice on the big screen and, in 2017, we will see the actress taking on the role for the final time, saying farewell to Alice and Resident Evil.
The last instalment of the franchise will be titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and, while there is not a huge amount known about the plot details, it has been briefly described as "Following the events of Resident Evil: Retribution, Project Alice is forced to race against time as the villainous Red Queen attempts to destroy the final remnants of humanity."

Milla Jovovich will appear one last time
As well as seeing Milla Jovovich back as Alice, we will also see Wentworth Miller back as Chris Redfield, and Ali Larter back as Claire Redfield, with plenty more rumoured roles. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and has a scheduled release date for January 27, 2017 in the US.
While Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be the final instalment of the movie franchise, there has been talk of a Resident Evil television series being made in the future, so maybe it will not be the last time we see Milla Jovovich in a Resident Evil project.
