British actor Orlando Bloom played the role of Legolas in the hit Lord of the Rings trilogy by Peter Jackson. The Lord of the RIngs movies were filmed in New Zealand and Orlando has spoken about his time on the movies, admitting that he loved making the films in New Zealand.

Bloom explained, "I cherished my time filming Lord of the Rings, it’s the most beautiful, magical place with great hospitality. I love places that are completely cut off from everything – where I can relax and enjoy the simplicity of nature."
Following the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson decided to make The Hobbit trilogy, which would see the team returning to New Zealand. Orlando Bloom reprises his role as Legolas for The Hobbit movies, so got the chance to return to New Zealand to film his roles.

Orlando Bloom can next be seen as Legolas in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which is released on December 13 in both the US and the UK, while the trilogy is complete with The Hobbit: There and Back Again, which opens on December 17 in the US and December 19 in the UK.
