The Resident Evil franchise is the game to movie success that all the others are trying to emulate but none have yet to achieve. Although many of the Resident Evil movies have been slated by the critics, they still continue to draw in an audience and make money.
With the last Resident Evil movie, Resident Evil: Afterlife, making almost $300 million worldwide, it was pretty much guaranteed that a fifth Resident Evil movie would be made. Milla Jovovich recently took to her Twitter account to confirm the movie would be made and the potential title.
Milla wrote, “It’s not called “Begins” [laughs]! It “began” 10 years ago! [laughs]! I think it’s called Resident Evil: Retribution, but I have to ask Paul to be sure.” The Paul she is referring to is her husband and Resident Evil producer Paul W.S. Anderson. Resident Evil: Retribution, if that is what it will be called, is expected to hit cinema screen on September 14, 2012.
