When Russell Crowe went up on stage to award Anne Hathaway the Lacoste Spotlight Award at the Costume Designer Guild Awards, he made sure to make a few jokes when introducing her.

He did gain a lot of laughs when he mentioned Anne’s infamous flashing incident when she went commando and a photographer managed to catch a picture; he told the audience that he researched Anne to be able to say more about her on stage, and found out that she wanted to be a nun younger in her life. He added, “Isn’t that lovely? Then she found out they actually require you to wear underpants when they go out at night.”
He also added, this time in a more serious tone, “She ditched that idea because she decided she couldn’t fully accept the church that wouldn’t fully accept her gay brother. She measures everything with her heart first and that’s why I love Anne Hathaway.”

Crowe later declared that 2013 was Anne’s year, which was definitely true: she wowed blockbuster audiences in ‘Dark Knight Rises’ and she showed off her acting and musical chops in the hit musical adaptation of ‘Les Miserables’. She is set to balance out awards fare with blockbusters again within the next few years, especially as she is the lead in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Robopocalypse’ and is rumored to be playing Eliza Doolittle in ‘My Fair Lady’.
