The official storyline for The Hobbit movies has been released by Warner and it pretty much just confirms everything we all already know about the movies. Warner issued an official press release to confirm the title of both of the films, as well as the release dates for both movies and the general plot for The Hobbit.
The press release explains, “Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings, which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar winning The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. The adventure of The Hobbit follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.”
The Hobbit movies will star The Office actor, Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and will also see the return of a number of characters from The Lord Of The Rings franchise, including Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Gandalf (Ian McKellan). The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set to be released on December 14, 2012, with The Hobbit: There and Back Again released on December 13, 2013.
