When it was first announced that Universal were going to bring us their very own Monster Universe, we were instantly intrigued as to how they were going to make this work, something which we are still eager to learn more about. Now, with The Mummy set to hit the big screen this week, we will finally get to see how things are going to come together for this eager awaited Monster Universe.

As well as having The Mummy appearing in the new movie, we are also going to get to see Russell Crowe appearing in the role of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, with the character going head to head with Tom Cruise in the new film. While there were some rumours suggesting that Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe did not get on well together on the set of The Mummy, it seems that the two stars actually had a great time.
Cruise said, "Russell's a very powerful actor, he's a brilliant actor. And to have him play this character - I was excited when he said that he wanted to be a part of it - to see, okay, here you have this ballast, also, in the centre of the film and him playing that character... it was really fun watching him create [Jekyll] and having the promise of that in the film and that dynamic between the two of us."

Meanwhile, Crowe added, "We did a fight sequence together, Tom and I, in this film. Right when we first started talking about it, because it wasn't really fleshed out on the page, we just made a pact between us to try and really do something with it and try and get to a place with it. There's a whole bunch of different things in there. There's a bit of martial arts, there's a bit of boxing, there's some wire work, there's a couple of rugby moves - in particular a back-slam onto the desk which I think will rattle the theatres when you see it."
The Mummy will open on June 9 in both the US and the UK.
