So far on our top 10 list of video games being adapted for the big screen, we have brought you some brand new projects, which have yet to be made, as well as some movie reboots, such as yesterdays entry at number five on the list Agent 47 (Hitman). Well today, we bring you a sequel from an already successful movie franchise.
The Resident Evil franchise is possibly the most successful video game to movie franchise there has been to date. The films star Milla Jovovich in the lead role of Alice and the franchise has already spawned five Resident Evil movies, with a sixth one on the way.
The first Resident Evil movie came out in 2002 and was followed by Resident Evil: Apocalypse in 2004, Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007, Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2010 and Resident Evil: Retribution in 2012. The movies were made on a total budget of $248m and have grossed a combined total of $914m, so it is no surprise that they keep making them.
Resident Evil 6 will see Milla Jovovich back as Alice, while Paul W. S. Anderson, who helmed Afterlife and Retribution, is back in the directors chair. Resident Evil 6 has a release date planned for September 12, 2014, while Resident Evil 7 is already being talked about, with a Resident Evil reboot planned for the future.
