Olympic gold medallist swimmer Tyler Clary love for speed, his current career of swimming and his post-career ambitions that involve race car driving have led to him recently making the decision to change his swimming training base from the University of Michigan to Charlotte, North Carolina where the SwimMAC Carolina Team Elite squad trains. At his new training locale he will be training alongside fellow backstroke competitors Ryan Lochte and Nick Thoman once he is recovered from his back injury and he will be able to take on a different training approach that will keep him fresh as he prepares for the next Olympics.

For some people the desire to travel to travel exceptionally fast either through the water or in a car is something that they cannot live without and Tyler Clary is one of those people which is why Charlotte, North Carolina is an ideal place for him. It is the headquarters of NASCAR racing and during his time away from the pool Tyler Clary can learn more about NASCAR and pursue his race car driving goal of becoming a Sprint Car champion.
He has made no secret of his ambition to become a race car driver upon the completion of his swimming career and he has tested and raced cars for Toyota and Stronghold Motorsports prior to his move to Charlotte. All indications are from the moves of Tyler Clary is that he is getting ready to build his career in NASCAR while training for the Brazil 2016 Olympics and in the process prepare for a smooth transition from racing in the pool to racing cars on the track.
