While the hit television series The X Factor does get a lot of stick from people who feel that the show is ruining the music industry, there is certainly one thing that the show is good at. There have been a few occasions over the years where The X Factor team have put together a number of solo rejects and created a success group.

The Union J boys
The biggest group to come from this is the boyband One Direction, while girlband Little Mix were also formed in the same way, with the most recent success being Union J. Singer Josh Cuthbert was a member of Triple J, who added George Shelley to the band to become Union J and have enjoyed success since. Josh has now spoken about life in a boyband.
Cuthbert explained, "Upsides are spending time with my three best mates JJ (Hamblett), Jaymi (Hensley) and George (Shelley). Being able to be involved in music as a career. Downsides, there really aren’t any, I’m having the best time of my life and enjoy every minute."

As well as talking about how great it is to be in a boyband, insisting that there is no downside to the lifestyle, Josh Cuthbert also went on to talk about the joys of performing on stage. Josh revealed one specific performance that Union J did that stood out above the rest.
Cuthbert added, "It has to be performing at the Summertime ball at Wembley football stadium. It’s the most iconic sporting place in the world and I love sport so much."
It will be interesting to see if The X Factor decide to use this system again this year.
