It has been confirmed by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, that English striker Wayne Rooney will miss tomorrow’s Europa League match against Ajax at Old Trafford. Sir Alex has revealed that Wayne Rooney has been tucked up in bed since the start of the weekend with illness and that he does not seem to have gotten well enough for tomorrow’s match.

Ferguson explained, "He has a really bad throat. There were traces of it in Amsterdam and we gave him some medication but it got worse." Sir Alex continued by adding, "He has been in bed over the weekend and came in today for the first time and we are trying hard to get him right for Sunday."
With Wayne Rooney unfit to play, it seems all the more likely that supersub Javier Hernandez will get to lead the frontline. Good news for Manchester United is that Tom Cleverley has fully recovered from his ankle injury and is expected to play the full 90 minutes. Machester United vs Ajax is set to take place at Old Trafford tomorrow at 20:05 GMT, with Manchester United holding a 2-0 aggregate advantage over Ajax.
