We are just a few days away from the big kick off at Euro 2016 and there has already been a lot of talk about the England team and the squad that head coach Roy Hodgson chose for the upcoming tournament. Being the England manager is never easy and there was no way that Roy could have pleased everyone but it seems that most fans are disappointed with some of his selection.

One player that a lot of the England fans surprising wanted left behind, is the countries all time top goalscorer Wayne Rooney, who is one of the few world-class players that the country actually has. At the age of 30, many feel that Rooney's time is up and that he should no longer be in the England squad, let alone in the starting line up for matches.

With that said, there are those with the sense to realise that Wayne Rooney still has a lot to offer the team, whether that be in his usual position up front, or in a deeper role where he has impressed in a few games for Manchester United. It will be interesting to see how Rooney performs at Euro 2016 and what his plans will be for the future, when the tournament comes to an end.

There have been some people who have suggested that Wayne Rooney will retire from International football after Euro 2016 and focus on his playing career, which will only have a few more seasons left. Whatever the case, Wayne Rooney will forever be remembered as an England great, with his goalscoring record likely to stand for many more years to come.
