It is pretty fair to assume that we all thought the Suicide Squad movie missed the mark by quite a long way and could have been so much better than what it delivered, but it seems that when it comes to the performance of Jared Leto as the Joker there is a bit of a split among the fans, with some feeling it is the worst Joker we have ever seen, while others think Jared was not given enough screen time to prove himself in the iconic role.

Whatever you thought about Jared Leto as the Joker, it seems that the actor is going to get replaced in the role for the planned new movie which will focus on the origins of the Joker. While there had been rumours that Jared was not happy about another actor taking over the role, since he only had a small part to play in Suicide Squad and wants to prove himself with more screen time, it seems that the actor is fine to pass the torch.
Leto said, "Yeah, I think so [that they're both being developed]. I’m a little confused too. Yeah, there are a couple of things happening in the DC world. I love the Joker. He’s a great character and really fun character to play. But it’s a big universe and when you play the Joker, there’s no ownership there. You have the honor of holding the baton for a little while and then passing it off. There are other films that are in development and I’m excited to see what comes from them."

It is going to be interesting to see which younger actor gets cast in the lead role of the Joker origins movie, although there have been rumours that Leonardo DiCaprio will play an older version of the character in the film. Meanwhile, Todd Phillips is on board to direct the movie, while Martin Scorsese is penning the screenplay with Scott Silver. This could make for one very interesting movie indeed.
