Following the huge success of The Hunger Games movies at the global box office, it was hoped that the Divergent movies would follow suit and become just as successful. Unfortunately though, following the poor box office gross for The Divergent Series: Alligiant, it made it impossible to make the final instalment as a big screen project, which led to a new direction.

It has been over a year now since it was suggested that we were going to see The Divergent Series: Ascendant being made into a television series rather than a movie, and it has now been claimed that the plans are finally moving forward with the show set to come to Starz. However, it seems like we are going to get a new cast for the TV series, if the previous reports are anything to go by.
Actress Shailene Woodley plays the lead role of Tris in the Divergent movies and she insisted that she would not be involved in any plans to move Ascendant to television, which means that they will need to look for a new actress to take on the role. With Shailene Woodley not returning for the show, it is also likely that many of the other original cast members will decide not to return for the series.

If this does turn out to be the case, we will definitely be interested to see what the new cast members will look like and whether the TV series can actually do the source material justice, which many people feel the movies did not. For now though, The Divergent Series: Ascendant is still in the planning stages so it could all still get cancelled yet.
