Wimbledon have confirmed that they and the BBC are hoping to show this year’s Wimbledon Championships, men and women’s final, in live 3D. It is the 125th anniversary of the Wimbledon tennis tournament and the BBC feel this would be a great way to mark the occasion.
Viewers will be able to watch the finals on July 2 and July 3 on the existing BBC HD channels, however they will need a 3D television. An additional set top box or receiver will not need to be purchased by the viewer.
Head of BBC HD and 3D, Danielle Naglar said, "I'm delighted that in this anniversary year we're bringing UK audiences a new way of getting close to the action on Centre Court. I'm sure that 3D will only add to the drama as the world's greatest players compete for the championship."
