Emma Watson has literally grown up in the limelight, in front of millions of fans and moviegoers around the world. To many, she will always be Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series, but Watson is focused on trying to change that.
Watson has a new interview with GQ Magazine [the cover and previous snippets were released beforehand], and she discusses learning how to pole dance for her role as Nicki in 'The Bling Ring', who is a lap dancer in the film
She reveals, "I did learn to pole dance for the film, and I have a small pole-dancing scene, but it's not a performance for anyone else, it's just me messing around with my friends. I'm not standing on a bar top."
When asked whether she leant how to pole dance for that scene, Watson says, "Yes. I learnt. I took lessons. When I was preparing for the role I was studying at Oxford, actually. It was surreal... I was incredibly ungraceful at first. The upper-body strength and the core strength that you need to do it gracefully is crazy. I take my hat off to the women who do it. You have to be incredibly strong."
'The Bling Ring' will be in limited release in the UK on July 5th and the US on June 14th. In addition to Watson, the film stars a host of newcomers, Taissa Farmiga, and Leslie Mann, and is directed by Sofia Coppola.
