Oscars 2012 sees Rango win Best Animation and Hugo win Best Visual Effects

Chris Rock was the next celebrity to take to the stage to give an Oscar to the winner of the Best Animation. Chris Rock gave a hilarious talk about making animated movies before announcing who the nominees in the category were. Those nominated for Best Animation were A Cat in Paris, Chico & Rita, Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots and Rango.

Gore Verbinski accepted the award for Best Animation for his movie Rango and possibly thanked the most people of the night without taking forever to do so. Rango was a favourite to win the award for most people in the know, so the win comes as no real surprise. Once Gore Verbinski had finished his speech and left the stage, another ad break took place.

Not to spoil, what has become, the theme of the night, they returned from the ad break a little early again to Billy Crystal in his dressing room. A little routine with Melissa McCarthy flirting with Billy before introducing Ben Stiller and Emma Stone, who were giving the Oscar for Visual Effects. The two played off of each other well before announcing the nominees.

The nominees included Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, Hugo, Real Steel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Yet again it was another award for Hugo, taking their tally for the night to five Oscars so far. An incredible night for Hugo and the acceptance speech saw yet another thank you for Martin Scorsese.
